The UDDI initiated and drove the development of the Nelson Mandela Bay
Logistics Park (an asset of the NMBM), which has now officially been
handed over to Coega for its future operation. This handover was
effective 01 March 2008. The UDDI’s role was to scope, develop, plan,
implement, facilitate and assist with the setting up and managing of
the affairs of the Logistics Park on behalf of the Metro. This is a
UDDI flagship project, which has contributed to a number of automotive
suppliers locating within the Uitenhage area and creating sustainable
jobs.
